Traffic Modifications for the 2017 Komen Baltimore ‘Race for the Cure’

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the traffic modifications in effect for the 2017 Komen Baltimore Race for the Cure. The event will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 in south Baltimore starting at 8:00 a.m.
The race will begin at the intersection of Fort Avenue and Whetstone Way. Participants will head east on Fort Avenue, right on Andre Street to the turnaround point, then right back onto Fort Avenue. Runners will continue along Fort Avenue into Fort McHenry, run the Seawall Loop around the Fort, proceed out of the Fort and continue westbound on Fort Avenue and left on Whetstone Way to finish.
In preparation for the event, Fort Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Lawrence Street and Fort McHenry on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
During the event, Baltimore City Police and Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the race route to help facilitate the movement of traffic. Commuters should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the event for the safety of participants. Motorists should pay close attention to posted parking restrictions and avoid parking in prohibited areas.
Citizens should be on the watch for pedestrians while traveling in this vicinity and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
