Weekend Road Closures for Friday, October 4th Through Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Fell’s Point Fun Festival

This weekend, traffic modifications will be in effect for the 58th annual Fell’s Point Fun Festival which will be held on Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6, 2024, in historic Fell’s Point. 

In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic from 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 4th until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Thames Street between Point and Wolfe Streets
  • Broadway between Aliceanna and Thames Streets
  • Ann Street between Lancaster and Thames Streets (partial closure at Ann and Aliceanna Streets for local access)
  • Bond Street between Lancaster and Thames Streets
  • Lancaster Street between Bond Street and Ann Street
  • Shakespeare Street between Bond Street and Broadway
  • Fells Street between Thames Street and 908 Fells Street

Patrons attending the event are strongly encouraged to use public transportation and avoid parking in local neighborhoods.  Motorists should pay close attention to posted parking restrictions and avoid parking in prohibited areas.  Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced throughout the duration of the festival and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed.  Citizens with questions concerning the location of their vehicles should call 311.

 

Morgan State University Homecoming Parade

This Saturday, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented for the Morgan State University Homecoming Parade. 

The parade will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and kicks off from the Alameda Shopping Center.  Parade participants will turn left onto The Alameda (southbound), left onto E. Coldspring Lane, and left onto Hillen Road to end in the middle of median where the stage is located.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect: 

  • The Alameda and E. Belvedere Avenue – southbound leg
  • The Alameda and E. Coldspring Lane – northbound leg
  • The Alameda and E. Coldspring Lane – all northbound traffic must turn left onto westbound E. Coldspring Lane
  • Northbound Hillen Road at Argonne Drive – all traffic must turn left or right onto Argonne Drive
  • Median at Hillen Road and entrance into the old Northwood Shopping Center
  • Southbound Hillen Road traffic must turn left onto E. Coldspring Lane
  • Eastbound Argonne Drive traffic must continue east or make a right turn onto southbound Hillen Road

    Temporary traffic stops will be implemented during the parade for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

 

Road Closures for the International Edgar Allan Poe Festival and Awards

This weekend, road closures will be in effect for the International Edgar Allan Poe Festival and Awards which will be held at the Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic from approximately 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4th through 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • N. Amity Street closed from W. Saratoga Street to W. Fayette Street
  • W. Lexington Street closed from Poppleton Street to N. Schroeder Street

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Road Closures for the Fiesta Baltimore Festival and Parade

This weekend, road closures will be in effect for the Fiesta Baltimore Festival and Parade which will be held in Patterson Park.

The parade will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, and will kick off from the intersection of Grundy Street and Eastern Avenue at 2:00 p.m.  Participants will head west on Eastern Avenue and turn right onto S. Linwood Avenue to disband.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • S. Linwood Avenue from Eastern Avenue to E. Pratt Street - closed Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. each day.
  • Eastern Avenue from Grundy Street to S. Linwood Avenue - closed Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Grundy Street from Fleet to Gough Streets - closed Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

During the parade, temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

 

Road Closures for the Bolton Hill Festival on the Hill

This Saturday, road closures will be in effect for the Bolton Hill Festival.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Bolton Street closed from Lafayette Avenue to Dolphin Lane
  • Lanvale Street closed from Mason Street to Park Avenue
  • Jenkins Alley closed from Lafayette Avenue to Lanvale Street

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Road Closures for the Baltimore Taco Festival

This Saturday, road closures will be in effect for the Baltimore Taco Festival which will be held at Power Plant Live!

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic from approximately 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5th until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Water Street closed from Frederick Street to Market Place
  • Market Place closed from Water Street to Lombard Street

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Lane Closures for CFG Bank Arena Events

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be implemented in the vicinity of the CFG Bank Arena for various concerts and shows, including Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter.

In preparation for the events, the following lane closures will be implemented on Friday, October 4, 2024, from approximately 7:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m.:

  • Howard Street left lane closure from Camden to Pratt Streets
  • Lombard Street right lane closure from Hopkins Place to Howard Street 
  • Baltimore Street left lane closure from Howard Street to Park Avenue
  • Pratt Street left lane closure from Eutaw to Howard Streets

These lane closures will also be implemented on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from approximately 7:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m.

Motorists traveling in the vicinity of the CFG Arena should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities

This weekend, temporary lane and road closures will be in effect for various activities.

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the following lane and road closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 right lane closures northbound between Falls Road and the city/county line 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (streetlighting repairs)
  • Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 right lane closures southbound between the Druid Park Drive and Guilford Avenue exits 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (graffiti removal)
  • Washington Place closed between Mt. Vernon Place and Madison Street 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Ann Street closed between Fayette Street and Fairmount Avenue 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (crane operation)

On Sunday, October 6, 2024, the following lane closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 left lane closures northbound and southbound between Fayette Street and the city/county line 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, October 6, 2024, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Sowebo Landmark 5K Race

This Sunday, temporary road and lane closures will be implemented for the 13th annual Sowebo Landmark 5K Footrace which kicks off from Union Square Park at 9:00 a.m.

The race will start along Hollins Street at the intersection of Stricker Street.  Participants will proceed east on Hollins Street, right on Schroeder Street, left on Lemon Street, right on Poppleton Street and right on Pratt Street.  The race proceeds left through the B & O Railroad Museum Service Entrance and through the museum grounds to exit left onto Arlington Street.  The course continues across the railroad tracks and right onto James Street.  Participants will then turn left on Bayard Street to enter Carroll Park at the Washington Boulevard entrance and follow marked trails in the park up to the Mount Clare Mansion.  Runners will exit the park by turning right on Bayard Street, then left on James Street, left on Arlington Avenue, and left onto Hollins Street to finish at the HL Mencken House.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:

  • Gilmore Street – Lombard Street to Hollins Street
  • Hollins Street – Gilmore Street to Stricker Street

In addition, one lane of traffic will be closed for runners along the race route where possible.  Commuters should be aware that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the race for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity are encouraged to watch for pedestrians and use alternate routes.
